How does the preliminary assessment process operate within the Bitso Business?

Written by Bitso | Jan 17, 2026

At Bitso Business, we prioritise providing a smooth, secure and compliant onboarding experience.

To save you time and ensure that we are the right partner for your business, our process begins with Stage 1: the Preliminary Company Assessment.

Before asking you to provide extensive legal documentation, we conduct a quick initial review to confirm that we are the right partner for your business.

This stage is designed to be fast and efficient. Here is the step-by-step flow:

1. Submission of Interest

You complete the inquiry form on our website with basic details about your company (e.g., industry, location, and expected volume).

2. Internal Review

Once we receive your details, our team reviews the information. We look at two main criteria:

  • Operational Fit: We evaluate if our product suite (payments, crypto-rails, custody) aligns with your business model.
  • Regulatory Alignment: We conduct a preliminary screening to ensure your business activities comply with our regulatory standards and supported jurisdictions.

3. The Outcome

  • If approved: A member of our team will reach out to guide you to the next stage—the formal Know Your Business (KYB) application.
  • If declined: We will notify you that we cannot proceed at this time, saving you the effort of gathering complex documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the final application?

No. This is a pre-qualification step. It is strictly to verify that your business model aligns with Bitso Business operational and regulatory capabilities before we begin the formal contracting process.

What information do I need to provide for this step?

At this stage, we only need a brief overview of your company. You do not need to upload legal charters, ultimate beneficial owner (UBO) documents, or financial audits yet. That will be required only after you pass this preliminary assessment.

How long does this review take?

Our team reviews submissions daily. You can generally expect to hear from us shortly after submitting your inquiry if your profile matches our criteria.

Why do we do this?

We understand that compiling corporate documentation takes time. By conducting this preliminary assessment, we ensure that we only request sensitive and time-consuming documents from partners who we are confident we can serve effectively.
